1500 Main Street Springfield, MA

Self Advocacy Network is a Springfield-based self-advocacy group.  Self-advocacy groups teach people with disabilities about the skills needed for speaking up for themselves and others.  SAN members listen and provide support to one another to create a safe learning environment.  The topics and activities chosen for group discussion rotate based on the members’ interests.

Self Advocacy Network uses the shared leadership model. Shared Leadership means working as a team to help everyone take on responsibilities and learn new skills.  Members sign up for different tasks and take turns for each role.  This model is effective for SAN because it gives every member a chance to try different things.
